Holiday allowance calculator for Northern Ireland
Work out statutory paid holiday: 5.6 weeks a year, pro-rata for part-time staff and people who start or leave part way through the year, with Northern Ireland's 10 bank holidays.
How this is worked out
Statutory leave is 5.6 weeks a year under the Working Time Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016. For a set number of days, that's days per week × 5.6, up to a maximum of 28 days. Bank holidays can be counted as part of the 5.6 weeks. If someone starts or leaves part way through the leave year, they get a proportion. Irregular-hours workers in NI still get 5.6 weeks – the ‘12.07%’ method introduced in Great Britain in April 2024 doesn't apply here.
